Bacarrat, or High Card Poker

Bacarrat or simply bacarrat is an old comparing card game originally played in casinos. In the bacarrat rules, each player receives a starting hand consisting of five cards and is allowed to place any combination of cards into the pot as well. In the early history of bacarrat, players would play with bacarrat with just one hand, but as time passed, bacarrat players have been playing with a two-handed bacarrat. Bacarrat is a joker card game that is similar to Joker cards in regular poker.

In the bacarrat rules, each player is dealt a hand consisting of five cards and is then called to begin the first official round of baccarat. The banker, called the dealer, deals the cards to the players face down, following the same procedure as the dealer in conventional poker. It is important to remember that in bacarrat, the banker is not allowed to look at the cards that are in the middle of the table, so the dealer must count those cards for themselves. The first hand dealt in bacarrat is called the “low card”, which may contain any number of cards not yet brought out of the box, and is valued at zero.

The second hand is called the high card and is dealt exactly like the low card, except that it may contain one more card besides the high card. Finally, each player is dealt a single low card and a single high card. In conventional bacarrat, the players may wish to bring additional cards to the table before, during and after the bout; however, in this form of bacarrat, it is against the rules to bring additional cards to the table. The winning player is the player who has drawn the maximum number of cards, regardless of whether they come from the top or bottom of the deck.
